IT Security Governance Analyst

Major Responsibilities

Support & enhance the enterprise-wide security posture of the Social Security Administration by staffing the SSA Office of Information Security’s efforts in the key areas of “strategy”, “governance” and “emerging technologies”. This role will focus on supporting the process, policy and other governance-related aspects for the Office of Information Security.

Essential Functions/Requirements

Support successful execution of governance activities of a large Enterprise Security operation, including but not limited to the following examples:

Enterprise Security Policy Development.
Advising SSA’s Security Leadership Team on the overall Enterprise posture, relative to the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Management of Enterprise-wide Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) program.
Preparation of Annual FISMA Reports.
Review of C&A Activities (ST&E results etc.).
Facilitation of standard and ad-hoc Enterprise Security processes (e.g. Documentation updates, Awareness Training, Annual Audits, IG Investigative support etc.).
Preparation and Review of Security Risk Assessments.

Qualifications

Some familiarity with the US Federal Security regime (FISMA, NIST 800-53, 37, 39, OMB A-130 & A-123, IG Act of 1978, Privacy Act of 1974 etc.).
Some security certification preferred.
Intent to focus on Security as a career path.

Education

BA/BS preferred, but not required
