| Major Responsibilities |
- Support & enhance the enterprise-wide security posture of the Social Security Administration by staffing the SSA Office of Information Security’s efforts in the key areas of “strategy”, “governance” and “emerging technologies”. This role will focus on leading some technical aspects of Information Security.

Essential Functions/Requirements |
Support day-to-day, successful execution of technical security activities including the following examples:
- Vulnerability Scanning (Application, Database and Network)
- Penetration Testing (familiarity with the process & reports)
- Log Analytics for Security trends (connecting the dots of an attack pattern)
- Investigative & Forensic support for SSA or the IG, as required.
- Review of incoming US-CERT Alerts supporting response determination
- Assess pre-release review notes for vendor to Patches, making recommendations to to keep SSA a step ahead of emerging threats.
- Support some technical aspects of Tool Support for Governance Functions (e.g. POAM Tracking Tools, FISMA Reporting Tools etc.)
- Support Requirements Analysis & Development activities as a Technical Security Advisor.
- Advise SSA on all Security aspects of Emerging Technologies, conducting research/testing as needed.
Qualifications
- Some technical Security certification expected.
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Network Defense Architect (or comparable technical security certification) highly desirable.
- Experience with Federal Vulnerability Management desirable (e.g. analysis of vulnerability scan results and oversight of remediation approach development).
- Familiarity with the US Federal Security regime required (FISMA, NIST 800-53, 37, 39, OMB A-130 & A-123, IG Act of 1978, Privacy Act of 1974 etc.)
