BALTIMORE, MD—BITHGROUP Technologies’ STEM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) is the recipient of the 2009 Mayor’s Business Recognition Award for civic leadership and community service. BITHGROUP’s STEM Program immerses bright young people into learning about technology and entrepreneurship and exposing them to new possibilities, challenging them to explore areas that they have never considered.
During this engineering oriented summer program, the students learned about alternative energy sources such as Wind, Solar, Water and Hydrogen. They researched the uses of current technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GSM and VOIP. The students participated in community service, visited colleges, universities, technical museums and worksites. One of the unique features of this summer’s program was building a Hydrogen Fuel Cell car. Additional discussion topics covered included entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork, time management, conflict management, career readiness, financial management and organizational skills. Preparing students for careers in STEM areas will be of benefit not only to the students but also to the company, the community and help secure the prosperity of our country.
